We have lived in our “new” house for a little over 2 years now and have yet to finish ONE room all the way. I sure hope I am not the only one that has done this.. It’s pretty embarrassing. So this picture is the best before I can give you. We painted 3 walls khaki and one wall bright green. This was originally my oldest kids room until about a year ago when the little started sleeping with him. I knew I wanted navy blue to go with the green, so I painted our old bed for them in navy and got those super cute curtains made in navy chevron and green tabs. I absolutely love them! After that everything came to a halt for 2 years.
When I found out I was having baby #3 I knew I wanted to move the better furniture in the boys room and use antique furniture in the baby room. I bought all their furniture before I was a lover of old things. I paid a lot of money for my first borns furniture and now I am painting over it!
Here is the chest of drawers from the set I got for my first born. There were many of fights over this. haha I mean, I HAD to have the BEST for that baby, right?? When I hear about first time parents doing this, I hope they don’t regret it like me. I am just thrilled I get one last baby to do their room vintage style! Anyway y’all know I had to chevron this baby up!
I apologize for the pictures but when you have kids sometimes your best work is done at night and in your living room. I started doing the stencil in the center on each drawer. I have done this several times now and for the design to be right, you must do this! I have done this the wrong way and had to completely start over or do something else. I painted the body in Miss Mustard Seed Milk Paint in Artissimo and the white is Websters mixed with Behr Antique White.
I used Frog tape to hold the stencil on the drawers. I couldn’t get the drawers to come out so I had to paint and stencil with them on the dresser. It would have been a lot easier if they would have come out! You can get this stencil here. They even have my green dressers featured on the link! Royal Design Studio stencils are great and I got to meet the woman behind Royal Design Studio and she is SO nice! Love her!
After I was done painting the chevron on I used my new Ryobi palm sander with 220 grit. Before this sander I was using a Ryobi Corner Cat and an ancient palm sander. The old one threw debris at me. No joke. I LOVE this sander. I love my Corner Cat too but I can see this turning into my most used sander!
So, what do you think? Thanks everyone for giving me input on FB deciding what color knobs:) I absolutely LOVE how this turned out. My favorite thing about MMS Milk Paint is the unpredictability! It chipped in some places and adore that look! I really need to change that light switch cover!
Ahhh! I love it! I used Modern Masters Dead Flat to finish it. I love a good flat finish.
I think the boys do too:))
